Senior Session FAQs
I just love working with seniors.
Capturing their pride at finishing such a big accomplishment and their excitement for things to come is such a joy for me.
As with all of my types of sessions, my goal is to capture seniors authentically, as well as beautifully. I want to help tell their story. I strive for each senior session to be completely unique and personalized to that senior’s interests, passions or goals. Beautifully. Always beautifully.
What does this mean, practically speaking? It means we start our partnership out with a discussion about what they’re interested in. What activities helped mark their time in school? What do they plan to do or study after graduation? These types of discussions naturally help us brainstorm ways to personalize their session so that it reflects their personality.
After we’ve come up with ways to represent them in their photos, we discuss location and outfit ideas. For variety, I recommend choosing at least a couple locations and outfits. Here’s where their individual style and creativity can take them anywhere! I love helping them choose outfits that create the look they’re going for, whether that’s casual, simple, sporty, outdoorsy, dressy or trendy - there’s no right answer! And their location choices are equally as varied! Do you love reading? Let’s find a beautiful spot at the library or book store. Are you an athlete? Musician? We can find beautiful spots to help tell those stories, also!
Once we’ve done all of the planning, we get to the best part - the shoot! Senior sessions are typically around 2 hours long, depending on distance between locations or other logistics. My goal is always for them to feel fun and easy. For some people, the idea of having their photos taken for a couple hours sounds amazing! But I know that isn’t always the case, so my sessions feel very casual and straightforward. There’s lots of (guided!) movement, chatting and laughter. You do not need to know how to pose or what to do - I give all the help you’ll need!
Finally, the best part - receiving your gallery! I deliver senior sessions via a private, online gallery where your high resolution files may be downloaded by you or anyone you share the link with. Yes, digital files are included with your session! I love to receive digital files when I hire a photographer, so I want to share the same for my clients.
